Join us on this private tour of the world-renowned Golden Circle, one of the most popular spots in all of Iceland. Packed with enchanting sights, this tour is ideal for those who simply have to see the geothermal wonders of Iceland, or anyone who wishes to cram as much excitement into a short stay in Iceland as possible.
On this Golden Circle Minibus Tour, you will not only visit the three main attractions of the Golden Circle but there are two extra stops, one of which is Kerið volcanic crater. The other is a special surprise for you!
Your first stop is Thingvellir National Park. You’ll be able to walk around the area, which is known for its rare and magnificent and rift valley where the Eurasian and the North American tectonic plates have sundered the landscape, creating a gorge that gets ever-so-slightly larger with each passing year. Thingvellir is also the home of the world’s first parliament, established by Viking settlers in the year 930 AD, and it continued to serve as the place of meeting until 1798.
Next, you’ll journey to Geysir geothermal area in Haukadalur valley to see the numerous fumaroles, hot springs and geysers found here. Pay close attention to the geyser Strokkur – it erupts every 5-10 minutes, flinging water as high as 40 m (131 ft)!
The next stop is the magnificent Gullfoss waterfall. One of the largest and most powerful waterfalls in Iceland, it is a true force of nature. It is simply an amazing experience to get to see all of that power fall deep into the gorge that has been carved by the Hvítá glacial river, a popular location in its own right for river rafting.
On the way back to Reykjavik, you’ll stop at a secret location which is a favorite of your tour guide. You won’t be disappointed!
The final stop of your south coast experience is Kerið volcanic crater. Kerið is a deep volcanic crater, about 3000 years old. It is a part of a group of volcanic hills called Tjarnarhólar, and is now filled with water, creating a vivid, teal colored lake at the bottom of the pit, whose steep circular slopes resemble an ancient amphitheater.
